Doesnt work

I bought the little gizmo today and during the first 10 minutes playing around with it, it seemed to work. Then a few hours later, I wanted to try it again on my sleeping son and it doesnt work anymore. It keeps telling me to hold it vertically (why?) 3-5cm from the temple or forehead, but guess what? Thats what I am doing! Geez, so much money down the drain...
